I finally finished Iron Man 2009.  It’s done in my usualy cubist angular style.  I love this character.  Not just because of the live action movie but because of the heart issue and the whole heroic nature of Tony Stark.  In my opinion he is far more interesting than Batman.

capt2It is too cold to paint today.  I went outside and tried to get set up but my fingers just wouldn’t work. My Iron Man will just have to wait.  I can’t wait to the next one in my comic series…Captian America.

I painted this image with my 5 year old son. We had a great time painting it. He really loves it when we do things like this together. I am also pleased with the way the image came out.

Goal Of The Soul September 16, 2007

One of my ongoing contemplations is about whether I will go to Heaven or Hell. Do you ever think about that? Can you imagine what or who might guide you there? Think about it.

I am working on preliminary drawings and concepts for a movie at the moment.  It is very exciting.   I have always wanted to do something like this and have been asked to do some sketches for a secret project.   Every time I create something new I wonder if it will end up on the big screen.  My only hope is this will get my foot in the door so that I can pitch my own idea for a movie.

Painting Blue Hairs is kinda my thing. I think I enjoy painting these pictures the most out of everything I paint. I would love to do a whole show of these images.

The Hospital Blues August 24, 2007

I painted this after a disappointing stay at the hospital. At least when I got out of the hospital I was inspired to paint something. I often get inspired while sitting in a hospital bed thinking about what I should be doing with the rest of my life.

Too Darn Hot! August 23, 2007

Filed under: Painting — griffinlauerman @ 5:12 am

I have been waiting for the heat to go away so I can go out to my makeshift studio (AKA garage) and start painting again.  It’s still too hot.  I have tried to go outside and work, but I only make it for a few moment before I am dripping in sweat.  That’s one of the problems with living in Los Angeles.  I’d paint inside but the fumes and my sons curiosity restrict my ability to do that.  Any suggestions?

Bernard Butler August 21, 2007

Bernard Butler is one of my favorite musicians. I have painted a few pictures of him over the years, although this one is the best. He started out as the guitar player for Suede but went solo. He produced some great solo albums and some amazing material with his other band, MacAltmont & Butler. If you get that chance, listen to some of his music. It’s great stuff.

This is one of my favorite “Blue Hair” Paintings. I have done many of these style over the years and continue to do more. This one is fairly large compared to the others. I liked this image so much that I ended up putting on the cover of my book VIVID.
